Acupuncture & Herbs for Enhanced Fertility
Acupuncture helps to regulate hormones, regulate ovulation, reduce inflammation, improve circulation, and manage stress and anxiety. Chinese herbal therapy helps to build a healthy uterine lining, reduce endometriosis and ovarian cysts, prevent miscarriage, and improve ovarian function and reserve.
Ideally, it is best to start herbs and acupuncture treatment three to four months prior to trying to conceive or starting treatment. For you and your future baby, this helps ensure the best possible environment for conception. If you cannot start that far in advance, there are still many benefits to starting treatment at any time. We recommend acupuncture treatments once per week and taking Chinese herbs every day.
Acupuncture & Herbs for IVF or IUI
If you are undergoing ART (Assisted Reproductive Technologies) like IVF (In-Vitro Fertilization) or IUI (Intra-Uterine Insemination), acupuncture can help improve your treatment outcome. Studies have shown that Oriental medicine increases the chances of success by about 25% for IUI and by almost 50% for IVF. Acupuncture helps to improve blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, reduce uterine contractility, regulate the immune system, and improve ovarian and uterine response to medications, while simultaneously decreasing their side effects.
Acupuncture & Herbal Treatments for IVF
Ideally your treatment should start 3 or more months before you begin to take fertility medications. Treatments during this time are once per week. Herbs are included to help support your treatment. Our goal is to support follicle development and build a quality, healthy uterine lining.
Once you have started stimulation medications, treatments are once to twice per week. These treatments focus on nourishing and thickening the uterine lining, reducing anxiety, and helping to manage the side effects of pharmaceuticals.
We schedule a treatment the day before egg retrieval. We also do a treatment the day before embryo transfer and the day of transfer.
After that, treatments are 1-2 times per week. Our focus is supporting implantation and reducing the risk of miscarriage.
